Message From the Principal
We have enjoyed a great start to the 2016-2017 school year thanks to you and your children! Our staff is so happy with the progress we are making with student academics, STEM integration, classroom procedures, extra-curricular clubs, athletics and family wide events! Since our district calendar changed this year, due the consolidation and addition of 3 new schools to FUSD, we have a longer September with many events happening!
On September 7th, CCR is welcoming a special visitor,
Senator Barbara McGuire!
Senator McGuire will be touring our school, participating in a 5th grade STEM lesson in our STEM Lab and holding a lunch/discussion meeting with select staff, district board members, Dr. Fuller and other community members. We hope to share our accomplishments transitioning into a STEM Academy, becoming an A+ School of Excellence last year and asking for her support to encourage state leaders and business leaders to support more STEM grants, school/business partnerships and progress in STEM Education opportunities for Arizona students and teachers. This is a special honor for our school and district to host Senator McGuire for a few hours and show her the great things happening here! Please encourage your child to wear CCR colors this day, as it will be a school-wide spirit day.
Next, we would like to give you a parking lot update. Each year as our student population grows at CCR, so does our parent drop-off and pick-up traffic. Over the past month we have had Pinal County Sheriff’s Department and our District Transportation Department help us make appropriate changes in procedures in response to the increased traffic issues, especially at p.m. dismissal. Within the next few weeks, you will notice that we are adding:
A NEW CROSSWALK located at the entrance of our staff parking lot and parent drop-off/pick-up area. This will ensure student safety for children that need to cross here (as the new section of housing is being added next door.)
Traffic Guidance in the P.M. on Charbray from 3:20-3:35 p.m. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Christ will be assisting us in helping cars safely turn into the drop-off/pick-up area and to assist children crossing at this location.
NEW P.M. “NO-LEFT TURN” mobile signs will be placed in the exit area in front of the new crosswalk to help us avoid traffic accidents.
NEW SIGNS posted for drivers to see the rule, “NO LEFT TURN” on CHARBRAY from 3:15-3:40 p.m.”
Please know that I understand many of you want to turn left in the afternoon time for convenience, however due to the parking lot layout, increase of students and traffic, we must insist, so that we ensure our students that walk and ride bikes are safe going home in this busy area. Thank you for understanding our need to make this rule. Other options for student pick up are: parents can park at the softball complex on Empire and wait for their children at the back playground gate. We have a staff member man this gate every day before and after school. Next, you can choose to park your car on Charbray and meet your child in the rock area at the EAST GATE, next to the kinder playground.

A+ School of Excellence
We are very proud to announce that CCR K-8 STEM Academy received the A+ School of Excellence Award by the Arizona Educational Foundation! This means that our school will have an A+ school rating for the next three and a half years!
We would like to thank our judges from the Arizona Educational Foundation for taking time to visit our school. They spent almost two full days at CCR, evaluating our school and classrooms, and speaking with staff, students and parents.
We would also like to thank our Superintendent, Dr. Fuller, FUSD Board Members, CCR Parents and Community Members for their support with our application and site visit.
